What to tell us so we can price it fast

You do not need to know tree names or use the right words. Just describe what you see. These five things get you an accurate answer in one call instead of three:

• Roughly how tall. Compare it to your house. "Twice as tall as the roof" tells us plenty.
• What is underneath it. Roof, fence, pool, shed, power drop, septic field, or nothing but grass. This changes the price more than the size does.
• Can a truck get to it. Front yard, or behind a gate? How wide is the gate? Is the backyard fenced all the way around?
• What made you call. A lean, dead limbs, bark falling off, roots lifting, or a limb touching the house.
• How soon. Emergency, this month, or just planning ahead.

Photos help a lot. Take one from far enough back to get the whole tree and the house in the same frame, and one close up of the trunk base. Text them to the number above.

What happens after you contact us

If you call during hours, you get a person, not a menu. If you call after hours and it is not an emergency, leave a message and you will hear back the next morning. Messages sent through the form are answered the same day.

For most jobs, the next step is a short visit. We walk the tree, look at the base and the root zone, check access, and give you a flat written price before we leave or later the same day. There is no charge for the visit and nobody will call you six times afterward.

If we are quoting removal work, we will also tell you what it costs to grind the stump at the same time, because doing both on one trip is cheaper than two visits. If what you really need is a pruning schedule instead, we will lay out what to cut this year and what can wait.

If you are calling about storm damage

Say that first. We move those to the front of the line. If a tree is on your house or a wire is involved, stay out from under it and call the utility about the wire before you call us. Then get us on the phone and we will tell you what to do until we arrive.

Already had a tree taken out by someone else?

That happens a lot, and we get called for the part nobody wanted to finish. If you have leftover stumps in the yard, we will come grind them out even though we did not do the removal. No hard feelings and no lecture.
